This Privacy Policy explains how AI CareerStack ("CareerStack", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use careerstack.dev and its tools. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.
1. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter or request a roadmap through a form on the site.
- Contact details — your name, email, and message when you use the contact form.
- Account profile — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We never receive your Google password.
- Activity data — for signed-in users, which labs and tools you open, so we can show your progress.
- Content you submit to our tools — e.g. text or documents you paste or upload into the Resume Builder, Skills Gap Analyser, or RAG Playground (see Section 3).
- Usage & device data — standard analytics such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser, and referring site.
2. How we use it
- To provide and personalise the tools, roadmaps, labs, and interview prep.
- To save and display your progress across the site.
- To send newsletters and product updates you asked for (you can unsubscribe any time).
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. AI tools & your content
Some features (such as the Resume Builder, Skills Gap Analyser, Interview Simulator, and RAG Playground) send the text you provide to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate a response. Please keep the following in mind:
- Only the content needed to produce your result is sent — for example, in the RAG Playground only the top matched passages are sent, not your entire document.
- Do not paste highly sensitive information (government IDs, passwords, financial account numbers) into AI tools.
- AI-generated output can be inaccurate and is provided for guidance only — it is not professional, legal, or career advice.
4. Third-party services
We rely on trusted providers to operate the site. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — database and authentication (stores your account and form submissions).
- Google — Sign-in (OAuth), Analytics, and advertising (AdSense).
- Anthropic — Claude AI models that power our AI tools.
- Netlify — website hosting and serverless functions.
- Resend — delivery of newsletter and transactional emails.
5. Cookies & analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies (including your browser's local storage) to keep you signed in, remember your progress, measure traffic with Google Analytics, and, where enabled, serve ads via Google AdSense. You can control or clear cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work without them.
6. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights:
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any newsletter.
- Delete your account or data — email us and we will action your request.
- Opt out of analytics/ads via your browser or Google's ad settings.

7. Data retention & security
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and we use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
CareerStack is intended for users aged 16 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
